John Jacobs, Founder & CEO

Born and raised on a dairy farm outside Sparta, Wisconsin, Mr. Jacobs completed his academic education in natural sciences at UW – Madison. His professional experience includes multiple positions at Kraft Foods, Beatrice Cheese, Borden, and The Antigo Cheese Company. Management experience involved roles in Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Operations, Contract Packaging, Distribution and Logistics, Strategic Planning, Sales and Marketing, with Plant, Divisional, and Corporate Responsibilities in the Food and Beverage, Confections, Dairy, and all Cheese products business segments.

In several roles, John was involved with corporate projects in cost savings, customer service, and supply chain optimizations. Real solutions to “distribution” challenges generally involve coordination with other business elements to minimize logistics costs and optimize profitability. Interest developed in creating partnerships within the food supply system process to truly optimize freight and minimize logistics costs for small to mid-sized Wisconsin food companies. With this background and commitment to the Wisconsin food industry, the decision was made in 2000 to develop a totally dynamic, cost efficient consolidation / distribution / delivery system with a focus on providing solutions for the food distribution challenges of Wisconsin food companies.

Mr. Jacobs served as the President of and was on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Specialty Cheese Institute for several years. Is past member on Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership Organization during it’s growth years as an organization – (specifically dedicated to improving the profitability and growth of small manufacturing companies in Wisconsin). Was an Industry Advisor with Cornell University Department of Food Science, past member of Warehouse and Education Council (WEC), past member of Council on Logistics Management. He was involved in TEC (The Executive Committee) organization for several years, is BOD member and Past President of the Antigo area Wisconsin Alumni Association, and being a member for several years, was Centennial Year President of the Antigo Wisconsin Rotary Club. Served as consultant and team member with the Dairy Business Innovation Center organization on distribution and the encompassing logistics needs of their clients.

Foodmaster Logistics Of Wisconsin®, LLC was founded in 2000. After development and modifications to LTL consolidation, freight optimization and management software for the food industry, FLOW started 3PL operations in May of 2001. FLOW currently provides service to several dozen companies in Wisconsin and many other states with freight services to and from all zip codes in US and parts of Canada. Services provided are tailored to customer needs and their expectations. Services range from full logistics provider including product warehousing, inventory, order processing, order selection and fulfillment, inbound and outbound freight for all of customer products, arranging freight management and transportation of all orders for some customers, and only arranging sporadic shipments for others. Shipments made are truck load (TL), less-than-truckload (LTL), store door (SDD) to some cities, and include dry, refrigerated, and frozen products. Shipments made are generally scheduled and routine for optimal benefits, however when needed, we excel in solutions for short lead time and expedited situations.
